Equipments

LAMES has two large equipments :

  • The fatigue carrousel of Ifsttar, a road traffic simulator designed to study the behavior of real scale pavements under accelerated heavy traffic. By its characteristics (track average perimeter of 120m, loading speed up to 100 km/h), it is one of the largest facilities of this type in the world..
  • Two small traffic simulators (the FABAC machines), used to test slabs of small dimensions (testing length 2m) subjected to real heavy truck axles driven at low speed (max. 7 km/h). The FABAC tests are complementary to those performed on the fatigue carrousel. Their purpose is to test, at a smaller scale, the resistance to traffic of a pavement structure or a road surfacing, as well as of any other specific road element.
