The FABAC machines

LAMES has two small traffic simulators (the FABAC machines), used to test slabs of small dimensions (testing length 2m) subjected to real heavy truck axles driven at low speed (max. 7 km/h). The FABAC tests are complementary to those performed on the fatigue carrousel. Their purpose is to test, at a smaller scale, the resistance to traffic of a pavement structure or a road surfacing, as well as of any other specific road element.
